That's right?you need a little "Flower" in your life! My name just happens to be Flower and I am one groovy chic. I'm about a 4-year old, female Dachshund/Chihuahua/Beagle mix and my foster folks just love my Blue Dapple color. If you think I look a little familiar I was placed several months ago but due to the health of my owner I had to come back to SBRET. Unfortunately for me I put on a lot of weight in my previous home and now am on a strict diet and exercise program. I weigh about 18 pounds but need to get back down to my ideal weight of 10-12 pounds so I can once again be the petite little girl I was meant to be. If you recall, I wasn't feeling so groovy when I came into rescue the first time because I had been hit by a car, leaving me with a terrible gash in my thigh, a broken pelvis, and a broken hip. Yikes! I nearly died. Some kind person took me to Anderson County Animal Hospital where I was treated and was on crate rest for several weeks. That is all behind me now! I'm a very curious girl and love my potty breaks outside. I do great on my housetraining! I also love my toys but will happily snuggle when I'm not so busy trying to figure out the world around me. The folks at SBRET think I would make a wonderful companion for a single person, couple, or a family with older children. I am not always so great with other dogs, so I would really prefer to be pampered in an "only dog" home. If you could use a little "Flower" to brighten your life, please send in your application and adopt me into your home. My adoption fee is $175. 11/19/12 update: I have been losing weight (2 lbs already!) and I sure do feel better. I scamper around after toys, love to go on walks (am very good on a leash), like nosing around in a fenced yard and, my foster mom says this is almost best of all (beside being awfully sweet) is that I am house trained. You do have to do your job and get me outside however. My mom can't see that I have any limp or problems from my healed broken pelvis - thanks so much to great vet care and foster home recuperation. I am also a fabulous car rider. I almost never bark but I will cry some when you leave me - I'm just telling you that I like your company. I love the cushy bed and blanket in my crate and go there for naps and night time - Mom never even closes the door. I've been meeting lots of bigger dogs lately - I now live with a big Golden Retriever and guess who I sometimes like to share a bed with! I will sometimes Grrrr at a big dog who makes me a little nervous but...a girl doesn't have to like everyone does she? Once I get to have a chance to get to know a dog I am just fine. I do great with smaller dogs. I would also be fine as an "only" dog, it means that I get ALL the attention. I love attention and being petted; I love squeaky toys; I love people; I love going on walks; I love being in the car; I liked being brushed - in other words, I am a truly awesome dog and, before too long you will be able to say that I am an awesome "little" dog. My forever home adopters will have to be committed to helping me lose a few more pounds and keep a healthy weight.
